A bit about us here at Walltree House

In case it sparks your interest, or you just like to know what you're getting yourself into ahead of booking, here is a little more information about us.

 

Walltree House is a family farm house that has so-far housed four generations of Harrisons.  In the 1980's and 1990's it was a successful Bed & Breakfast, run mainly by our mother/in-law who only stopped in order to enjoy her much deserved retirement.

 

Many years later we, the newest & youngest generation of Harrisons, decided to see what country life had to offer.  We threw in the desk jobs in London, gave notice on our flat in Holborn and moved full time to the countryside to see if we could follow on the family legacy and recreate a similarly successful business, but this time doing it our way.

After many hours of scraping wallpaper by dim battery-powered lighting, painstakingly sanding down black oil & tar paint-covered victorian floorboards and balancing over exposed floorbeams to move pipes and put in wiring, we have now come to a place where we are finally ready to open our doors.

 

We are very passionate and aspirational about what Walltree House can, and hopefully will, one day become.  We have had to accept that the execution of visions and dreams is limited by bank balances and so getting to our finished product is going to take time.

Most importantly, we want you to have the kind of stay you come away from thinking 'that was lovely and great value', and you'll be excited to tell family and friends about your experience.  Although we are far from our finished product, we still hope & think our enthusiasm, love of breakfast, quirky design and unique surrounding will make you think those things already.

 

We look forward to you joining us in our journey as we open our doors, and strive to continually improve our offering.  We hope you will want to come back to see us at different times along our path; to witness how far we have come and give us your ideas for further improvements.

 

One day; when our 12 bedrooms are finished, our garden hosts a tennis court, our woods house cosy log cabins, our outdoor area is complete with fatboy hammocks and 12 seater pavillions, the indoor swimming pool with adjoining spa is built, the restaurant with locally sourced produce is open and the old stone barn has a wedding license.  Then, we can all stand together on the lawn with a glass of champagne in hand and you will know you will have been a part of what made it all possible.
